Does Anyone Know About this Fairing...
« on: July 28, 2020, 08:54:31 PM »
My learned Brothers and Sisters:  I wonder if anyone knows more about the fairing that "LezAuto" (the Spanish Moto Guzzi importer of the 80's - and possibly longer) used in 1983...  applying it to the Series I 850 T5... creating the "850T5 Limitada".  I provide a few photos, graphics of said bike and the fairing.  I note that also, they put (presumably) the Lemans under-engine cowling on too... but I find it strange that that cowling would even exist before the Lemans IV came into existence in late 1984...?

The second-from-last graphic shows the fairing paired with lowers, as well... but it appears that most of the "Limitada's" came with just the upper one.

I was wondering if:

i) this fairing is effective, whether the windshield portion is high enough so that wind buffeting of one's helmet does not occur; and

ii) are these still available... including, separately, the windshield?

I am wondering if this is an Agostini creation, or ?? I do know that Agostini created a fixed full-body fairing around those years... different than this one.

This LezAuto fairing is not as tall as that of the gold-standard SP or SP II fairing... and that is why I would question it.  It would also be nice if someone could say whether my square headlamp T5 could be converted to use an SP II fairing... while retaining its "dashboard" and its unique upper triple clamp.  I should check if the upper triple clamp for the the SP II is the same. That'd be a start.  Don't want to lose the T5's "dashboard".

TIA!

It reminds me of the Pichler fairings that were available around that time.

I cannot answer your question, but here is a snazzy Policia fairing for a T5 police:  https://www.ebay.com/itm/Moto-Guzzi-USED-FAIRING-T5POL-US-285753452-GU285753452-GU285753452-285753452/142562579845?hash=item2131645585:g:a9kAAOSwcnxb0vvi     The same seller (Netherlands) also has fairing mounts.

Could have been based off of the LM2 or 3, has a similar width factor.

How could one find out if that manufacturer who produced this fairing is still in business and can the fairing still be purchased?

I found a fellow in Spain that did a restoration of one of these 850T5 Serie Limitada's in about 2018. I 'hafta join their forum and stumble-about in Spanish... but I really want to ask about how the bike + the fairiring performs. Two things give me pause:

i) bike is only a small-valve /30mm carb 850: it takes power to punch a big fairing through the air; and

ii) I personally believe this fairing looks better than the one on the SP or the SP II but the latter is taller and the lip of the SP fairing is further back - closer to the rider's head than on the Limitada. So looks aside, if the dang thing rattles your helmet in a dirty aero airstream - it can look good and handsome... but still be a lousy highway ride.

So, more investigation is needed...

I would go that same seller on Ebay. He sells a LOT of Guzzi stuff, and has his finger on the pulse of Guzzi in Europe. Maybe he sells repops.
