Ok I was for sure the cam position sensor was causing my problem. But NO. (thanks to the two members here who sent the sensors right away but I have failed in my trouble shooting) So this bike showed up with burnt wires in the main wiring harness. All the affected wires were ground wires. Repairs were made. Harness installed and everything checked. Fuel pump kicks in like it should, lights come on, all that stuff that happens before you push the start button. Press start the engine cranks over but NO spark at the plugs. The M15 module will run my BASSA so I'm pretty sure it works. What am I missing? I'm heading back to the shed to OHM the wires from the sensor plug in to the module plug to see is I find an open line there. Like I said it seems everything should work but I know full well I'm missing the target on this one.

I'm guessing it's the ignition relay. What do I win?  :smiley:

Relays first but didn't you swap in new ones already?
Is it possible that the cam sensor plug to the main wiring harness is plugged into the air temp sensor and air sensor plugged into the main harness where the cam sensor goes. I "think" the two connectors are the same accept color so could they be plugged in reverse? Assume you had to unplug everything to fix the burn out area. Are you sure the main harness is completely fixed?

I FOUND IT YEAH I FOUND IT. The wires between the sensor and the M15 did not connect. I had a second wiring harness to pick from so grafted in the other phase sensor to M15 harness and we have FIRE in the holes. Maybe tomorrow I'll get a chance to take her out on the road. Wife named it the Phoenix as she has risen from the ashes of death. So the Phoenix lives again.

Just check that the ECU power relay is closing' The first time it closes is just a timer, the second time is based on the sensor sending pulses to the ECU
As Moto says check for Voltage downstream of the ECU Power Relay while the bike is turning over, thats a sign the Camshaft Position Sensor is working.
It's not the sort of thing that would easily be damaged by a fire in the loom.

The sensor (56) sends pulses to the ECU, the ECU interprets this as the motor is running and turns on relay (50) which powers up (48),(49, (53), (54) & (55)
A small lamp somewhere on the relay output is all you need to tell you the sensor is working.
You may even be able to re-purpose the trouble light (47) to do that by grounding pin 1 however I would take it through a 1 K resistor as a precaution.

Some of you guys may be able to tell if a wire is alive just by looking at it but I'm just a simple sparky lol
