Aluminum Clist St.Louis $2500

If you’re willing to risk the clutch issue, seller claims he checked vin with MG and the lifter recall was done before it left factory even.  Hmm.
Anyhow, appears to be a potential good deal.  Missing right side shock cover but other than this appears clean. Guy says he is selling it for his father-in-law who is giving up riding.  Clean title in father-in-law’s name.

Very nice. That factory backrest/luggage rack is an excellent option as well.

I chatted with that guy.  We had a disagreement that the hydro motors ever had any problem.

I call bullshit.

Let's just say that there's no way the conversion was done.

It may have had a recall done at factory BUT not the final fix. Still not to bad of price if you were to keep it for ever like a retirement bike.

Next to my 8V Griso motor a properly sorted Hydro is my favorite.  The sellers hydro information has the smell of manure.

As I wrote in another thread, the factory recall kit is not easy to find, and is dealer priced at around $1300.  Buyer beware.

I never ran it down but he did give me the vin if anyone on here is interested enough I’ll send it to ya if you wanna check.  I just dropped more money into the KTM so I’m out of the picture for this one.

I wonder if what he meant was the recall was done by the dealer before the bike was sold? Nice bike, anyway. I had one and loved it, put a sidecar on it,and sold it with almost 30K trouble free miles. Those hydro motors are eerily quiet, and I love how they torque even at low rpms. Its the only Guzzi I have owned that you could actually "lug" and it didnt seem to mind.
Its a darn shame Guzzi didnt keep developing a motor with hydraulic lifters.

I could be wrong, but back in the day I don't recall anything about any hydros being corrected at the factory. If that were the case, there would be a serial number cutoff that would have been asked about on this board umpteen times by now, and we would know it by heart.

It's entirely possible that quite a few lingered in the showrooms long enough to be fixed before being sold.

Just updating this thread.  I communicated with Ed at AF1 and sent him the vin.  He said this one actually HAS had the hydro recall done but not the triple tree.  If everything else checked out, it would be a good deal for someone.  The triple tree issue can generally be inspected for hairline cracks and so forth; the hydro recall is far and away the more important one.

This might be a really good deal.  Is anyone near this seller who could check it out?

Hopefully its not one that was reported as done but really wasn't.  It needs to be confirmed.

There was an '03 Hydro for sale in Tulsa a few months back that a board member asked me to check on . Same song and dance when asked about the recall . Even offered to remove a tappet cover , guy just got angry . Seems at least some of these bikes have been purchased to flip by folks who are clueless about Guzzi , or at least that has been my experience with the two I've inquired about .

 Be very careful .

The hydro recall has been done.  Here is what Ed sent me.  Let me restate, AF1 ran a recall check on the bike.  Only the triple tree has not been done.  And with this (aside from maybe the clutch issue), not much is a mystery with regard to this bike except those things that are in question with the purchase of any used bike.  Shoot, I think we probably know more about the bike than the guy who is selling it and that’s not unusual at all.  In fact, sounds like he may be more of a distraction than anything.  If I measured the honesty, friendliness, and/or bike knowledge of every Guzzi owner I ever purchased an MG from well then I guess I’d have owned only about half the Guzzis I have.
