G5 and Convert Tank Decals
« on: August 17, 2020, 06:04:30 PM »
Can anyone point me to where I can buy a set of white pinstripe decals for the tanks on my G5 and Convert? I am refinishing two old spare tanks in black, and haven't found a source for the decals anywhere. I did find a set of gold ones and another set in red, but I am looking for the white ones. My hand is not steady enough for painting pinstripes.
Thanks!

Moto Renzo has the gold ones, but they are pretty pricey at 69EUR. Fnny I can't find white ones; I thought they were the most common!

The vinyl pinstripe strips are okay, I've used them lots before, but the water slide decals are way better because they don't peel off, and are smoother to the touch. Once a varnish or clear coat is applied over them, it is difficult to tell the difference between the water slide decal and an actual painted pin stripe.

Ooops. Actually, I found the white ones down the page from the gold ones, on Renzo's page.

Thanks for the links. Do the water slide decals need to be clear-coated or are they durable just over paint? Are the factory ones clear coated or just like those over paint?

They will need to be clearcoated or coach varnished in order to protect them. Even the vinyl strips are subject to lifting if they are not clearcoated. Gas spills are hard on unprotected stripes.
