V9 Frame Question
« on: November 02, 2020, 12:08:23 PM »
I posted a thread not long ago about putting a solo saddle on a V7. I’m in the process of making it happen (collective yay). I’d like the solo saddle to mount and lock similarly to the V9. The V9’s seat mounts to a locking plate located on the top surface just in front of the rear fender mount and behind the air box/battery bay. The locking plate sits on top of two threaded spacers that have been welded onto the V9 frame. The thread size of the spacers is M6.

Can somebody hook me up with the outside diameter and depth (height) of the threaded spacers?

Additionally, I see that the locking bolt hole on the plate is not centered between the two mounting holes. Are the mounting spacers centered on the bike, or is the bolt hole centered?

Photos attached for reference.

Thankya.

That should work. The Bobber Sport’s seat locks the same way as the other V9s, I imagine - saddle pin locks into the locking plate located between the air box and rear fender mount?

The diameter of the welded standoffs/spacers would be appreciated, but you may have to remove the plate to measure that. If you don’t want to go through the trouble, measuring the gap under the locking plate is the most important number I need.

I think this is what you want......

From the bottom of the seat latch to the frame is just under 11/16". The rubber cushions on the mount are about 5/16".

Thanks Caffeino and tris. Numbers look a bit different. Here’s a drawing of what I’m looking for. Hope this adds clarity:

Appreciate the quick responses. And thank you both for taking the time to measure. 20 and 8 look about right from my estimation based on visuals. Now I can move on to the next steps. Hoping to possibly have this ready by spring, if not sooner.
