So...was checking the valves...pulled the right side plug cover and plug cap. Then, pulled the left side. Or tried to...the cap came apart in my hand. Once I got the final bits out it looked like the rubber had bonded/melted to the head and the guts had cracked. Double crap!
Long story short...there are three options.
First is the Guzzi OE plug cap with wire. It’s unavailable until mid December. And cost $105! No thank you.
Next is aprilia part number 1A010839. That is the stock number printed on the cap. Its $40 and might be available in 3-4 weeks. I think this is the same part on some v9 models. But not positive.
Last is NGK #8404. It’s the correct size, shape and resistance. It cost $4 at NAPA and available in two days. Actually $4.05 with tax.
So your choice.
Oh yeah...when I reinstalled the right cap I put a light coat of hi temp rubber safe caliper lube on the outside to (hopefully) prevent a repeat. But I got two NGK caps just in case.
