Norge tire balance

Putting a new rear on my 08 norge. Rear wheel has over two ounces of weight on it. New Shinko does not have an obvious red dot (it w was late last night and I was tired). Should I A mount it and see what happens. B Take weights off. C take it to town for balancing. Two ounces of weight seems like a lot to me. This is first tire change on the bike for me and I  lack a previous baseline for guidance

If it were my bike I would remove the weights that are on there, I'm sure the wheel was balanced when it came from the factory, the weights were added for the specific tire you are replacing.
Motorcycle wheel are large diameter a slight unbalance cannot be felt, the tire shops insistence on adding weights and their reluctance to fit tubeless tires to my spoke wheels is the reason I now fit my own tires. "balancing wheels" is just another way for the shop to add on an extra charge IMHO.
The last time I had a tire fitted by the shop they did a balance but I asked them to give me the weights so I could add them if I felt the need, they seemed to work fine in my jacket pocket.

I’ve never balanced a MC tire in all my years of motorcycles. If you notice a shaking in a newly mounted tire you have a bad tire more than likely, IMHO

I would suggest breaking the bead and rotate the tire 180 on the rim. Sometimes that helps. Not always, but it's something easy to try.

All the Shinko's i have mounted have the red dot. I would always remove the previous wheel weights and start balancing from scratch.

as a former tire balancer I stopped several set so f tire ago and have noticed absolutely zero difference. This is with motorcycle tires and also the darkside in two instances.

The only form of balancing I'd do now if the wheel had TPMS sensors on it. I'd balance the wheel only then  spoon whatever tire on and ride.

^^^^^^ this. Some manufacturers use a yellow dot. Look at it in the light with glasses. The mechanic I use doesn’t balance tires, and he works on some seriously fast bikes.

you made me go look Doug, I have a buddy with a tire machine do mine. He spin balances them every time. Hopefully this weather will clear and I can go scuff this sucker up a little 👍

All good did the ton for a while and no problem. Exercised the Abs a few times. Good to go

I went out 66 west, cut N @ Halltown and around the west side of Stockton Lake and had some catfish tacos at the Dadeville Cafe.

Ended up being about a 130 miles of "scuffing" didn't quite make the ton however. I think I'll scoot over to Mother's brewing and get a growler of Octoberfest then lay 'round the shanty and put a good buzz on
