Out and about with the boys...

My good friend, and longtime industry colleague, Doug Campbell, stopped by Friday evening for the weekend.
He was riding his 2016 BMW S1000-XR. 4-cylinder / 165HP / 503 pounds! What a motorcycle!
He was riding from Austin, TX to visit his mom and brother in Healdsburg / Cloverdale, CA.
So, I rounded up the boys Saturday and we rode 75 miles around the Verde Valley / Cottonwood / Clarkdale. It was 95 degrees in the afternoon, but we had fun! A few photos to share...
We also stopped in West Sedona to see that beautifully restored 1969 Triumph TR-6 that's currently on BaT.
What a stunning restoration!

So all packed up and off he goes, at 9:15am this morning!
He wants to make it to Bishop, CA before dark. Taking the northern route, again, on his way to Healdsburg / Cloverdale!

Bishop, great place to go as all you have to do is go up the hill to Mammoth, Lee Vining, Susanville and into the gold country and eventually to the Napa valley which might be in somewhat dubious condition. I always go to a great jerky market 'mahogany smoked meats' there in Bishop and then to Law's museum. Also, on the way up if you are coming from the south, don't forget Lone Pine and the Hollywood/cowboy film museum. Manzanar the Japanese internment camp is on the way up 395 to Lone Pine also, and definitely worth a visit. Bishop and surrounding areas have not changed much since I was a kid in the 50's and we would go camping on south lake. Just more people around, now.
