Part needed #12150700 (bottom plate)
« on: October 06, 2020, 09:21:04 PM »
I'm going over the hydraulic system for my Convert--I especially wanted to check the hex drive and check the pump pressure. I took apart the pump that's in the timing cover. There was no "bottom plate" (BOTTOM PLATE (#12150700), i.e, the spring seat. Evidently, the same part is used for the pressure relief valve in the oil pans of some big blocks (e.g. 850 T3, 1000 SP, LM III).

I ordered a couple from Harper's on 9/4 (supposedly in stock), but despite a couple of calls and several emails, the order is still being processed a month later.

I ordered some of the bottom plates from Stucchi, the only other place I could find them listed as available, but recently found out that they are in the processes of moving, so there's no telling when the parts will be shipped.

Does anyone have one of these they can spare until mine arrive?

Thanks!

IIRC, it's just a shim, used to adjust the pump pressure. 6 mm o.d. x 1? mm thick. It may or may not need one depending on what your pump pressure is.

Charlie--that sounds right, thanks. I'm replacing the spring, and I wanted to have one of the seats on hand as I figured I'd probably need it. If no one has one, I'll make something.

My simplistic thinking is that if I put everything back together with the oem parts, the pressure should be about right. Rather not have "do overs."

I've never found that shim in any of the Convert fluid pressure relief valves I've had apart.

Interesting. I saw it in the parts book, so I figured the one for mine must have been missing. Someone had been in there before and replaced the early hex drive with the longer one. Two large nuts and a spacer (look like they were for mounting the motor) fell out of the timing chest when I opened up the cover, so I wasn't real confident in whoever did the work.

I'll put it back together w/o.
