Manual petcock for EV11

I have a manual petcock on my EV and it is dripping out the bottom (where the knurled part is). Has anyone had one of these apart and can tell me what might be allowing it to leak?

I can relate to the eyes rolling.    Of course I have a full tank so I'll have to drain it as soon as I can get to the garage. At least MG Cycle has them back in stock and they aren't way expensive, so there's that if all else fails.

I got one last winter, and mine has started leaking also. Its fine when its shut off..  but open it seeps a little bit. Id hate to have to buy another one, becouse its just a year old, so Ill be following to see how it comes apart

Seems like Guzzi petcocks are junk, whether electric or manual.

I bought the manual one, and it started a seep. I thought it was the knob but on further inspection it was the connecting nut threads. A simple fix was to take the nut off of the lectrik one, much better metal for threads to pull it together. Just my experience.

Ironically, this is my project on the V11 Scura this coming weekend...I had bought that replacement a few months ago, and will get around to replacing it finally.  Had the Scura out for a long ride last weekend...and it had started leaking again after the ride...

Seems like a lot of common parts between the V11 Sports and the other variants, I assume they all have the same engine/setup.

I went ahead and ordered a new one (of course the price went up) and I'll give it a try when I receive it. I had mine about 4 years I think, but I'll pay better attention this time. I feel uncomfortable with something leaking fuel onto a hot engine between my legs.  I'll also take a closer look at what GuzziSteve was talking about, but mine is definitely seeping from the bottom of the petcock.

I have not only had them apart but I have a modification that fixes them. The issue they have is that they use a pair of Nitrile orings on the plunger which as soon as they see fuel expand like crazy and swell up. This causes them to partially jam and often require pliers to close them.The swelling and high friction that results damages the seals. After my modification you have a fuel tap that seals and works smoothly and nicely every time. I also lightly lap the sealing faces while I have the tap apart so they seal perfectly in the "off" position.

I have never had an electric petcock leak fuel to the outside, fasten the two wires to the body of the valve so they don't snap off where they flex and they will last the life of the bike.

Yes I've never had an issue with one either but an electric tap is just another failure point you dont need I guess. Considering the only time you need the tap to actually shut off is when you remove the tank from the bike or as the US authorities believe it goes flying off in an accident.
The manual tap is quite a nice design just the seals have been skimped on. BTW the difference between the flow rate of the manual tap and the electric tap is huge with the electric tap outlet looking like something for a Vespa. Not that it matters in general riding I suppose.

I replaced my electric one because it would not seal. It was a pain removing the tank and leaking fuel everywhere. Ill look into the seal fix on mine this winter.
