Looks nice.  I have always thought that the angled motor of the Rocket looked nicer than the vertical Trident.

I had a '69 Rocket 3 - square tank, batman pipes, drum brakes.

Truely a mechanic's nightmare, but, oh, that sound!!!!  There's nothing like the sound of a triple on the howl.

Very good looking indeed, but not quite what it should be. It's colors are those of the 72' R3, like the one in my garage that I've owned since 1974. The 71's have a grey frame with an orange color and chrome. Not quite as striking as the purple but still a nice bike. Another point of possible value is that the 71's were produced in the low 1000's and only 202 72's were made before the factory shut it doors.  :thumb:

I've recently restored my 72' and it always brings a smile to my face. It goes very well and has a lovely sound even through the ear plugs and helmet.

If someone was interested in the BAT listed bike it is nice but not stock, so bid accordingly.

Very nice example! It was always a headache timing those three sets of points. If one set closed up on you the motor would run hot and likely grenade.

The rocket three and its dumpy sister = amazing engine for a bodged t100!
And that one is very pretty

But they don't half train mechanics.

Even more than old Ducatis

Among the more subtle points to make you giggle -
1) the drag from 3 contact breaker heels will retard the ingnition - easy to see on a strobe at 5,500 revis if you can stand the mechanical noises.
2) The very short rockers will wear the valve guides out even with the swivelling tappet ends - find the most slippery oil you can - at least they threw away the old T100 oill pump
3) the coils on the ROcket 3 are mounted in a neat stack which means it is very easy to shove a spade connector under your nail when refitting the HT leads i remember the pain like it was 44  years ago

Indeed JJ - beautiful! I love the candy reds they used back in the 60's.

That said - I gave up vintage bikes because I'd rather ride than tinker. And for that reason - I love my Guzzis and that certain other German brand LOL.

Maybe I'll paint another Guzzi Candy Red to scratch that beauty itch. But the bike in your post sure is fetching!
