Dad bought one of them in 1973 , brand new .    It seems like it cost less than $2k.   It was a nice "BIG" MACHINE .

I know. And I should lust over it more, but after owning two 70s bikes in a row (as my first bike’s, mind you), I swore off anything with more than two carburetors.

Note that I was also born in ‘82 and thus didn’t know the historic model existed until I started riding in 2011.

In the late seventies the scrap yards were full of discarded Hondas of all types.  Since Japanese motorcycles have always been viewed as "disposable" maybe thats why some of them are collectible today?  Don't think I'd ever part with that kind of money for a Honda 750, even if I could.

I wouldn't mind having my 1973 900 Z1 back.
I wonder if they handle any better with modern tires.

It's just a sculpture.   Someone might pay big bucks for a Gary Nixon racebike or a beat up KX-100 dirt bike with a "Von Dutch" mouse painted on the tank, but I doubt it for a '72 Honda sculpture for display on the carpet.

But you never know.   People pay huge dollars for the most idiotic looking "modern art" because it gives them status among the cognoscenti .....
