Man, I love the Blasters. I discovered them when Streets of Fire came out when I was in high school. One Bad Stud and Blue Shadows were on my mix tape playlist from then until now. Love to listen to the - I'm Shakin' and more. The Alvin Brothers are an institution.
I don’t know how I missed them Clint but tonight is the first time I’ve ever heard them, that I can recall. I’ve definitely got to add some of their songs to my MP3, in the “motorcycle trip” categories👍
The entire From Dusk Til Dawn soundtrack is fantastic. The "house band" in the movie is Tito & Tarantula, one of my favorite bands. Saw them in a bar circa 1990 in Chicago. Unfortunately they left the US for Germany never to return except for an occasional SXSW appearance.-AJ
Extremely fun movie. Worth a look if you have never watched. Great cast and great music as noted. Screenplay written by Quinton Tarantino I believe.
And who doesn't like Santanico Pandemonium's dance?
It’s ok. It’s a bit forced. I’m a big Harvey Keitel fan, think Mean Streets. And it’s co wrote with Rodriguez. Make sure you watch “el Mariachi” also, it’s a good movie. A bit low budget.
El Mariachi IS low budget because it was Rodriguez's first movie and he financed the whole thing on credit card. The big budget follow up, Desperado, is the superior movie. And as relates to the original post has a fantastic soundtrack including three songs by Tito & Tarantula and a solid handful by Los Lobos. And if you watch the movie you get another chance of watching the gorgeous Salma Hayek. -AJ
“Desperado” is a silly farce, a parody of el Mariachi. If you remade el Mariachi with a Hollywood budget, it would prove out to be the better movie. imho.
