Oil leak on a Norge

A friend has a Norge and just noticed an oil leak on the left jug, starting below the head.  As I recall, this is frequently caused by (1) the blow-by hose on the left cylinder or (2) a leaking oil pressure sensor.  Since I have been out of the big block community for a few years I might have missed something equally obvious.  I advised him to remove the gas tank and take a look at the two items I mentioned.  What else should he be looking at?

Same as a Stelvio for leaks, also come from oil line, phase sensor, and a small screw to plug oil drilling between fins on outside.

My Norge has been doing the same thing for little while now & I've checked the oil sensor, phase sensor, & oil line and they are good. The set screw Steve mentioned has always seeped a bit but not this bad. Has anyone ever had any luck sealing these? I tried JB weld with no luck. Also, could it be leaking around the spark plug tunnel? Is a head gasket leak unheard of? My bike has about 68,000 miles on it now.

When I had my 1200 sport it was always the valve cover gasket.

You can get a Fluorescent dye at auto part stores.  You mix it with the engine oil in the sump and then run the engine.   Shine a black light on the engine.  The dyed oil that leaks out will glow yellow, so you can tell exactly where the leak originates. 

Might want to thoroughly clean the old oil off.

I had similar leaking on my 2014 Norge.

In my case it turned out to be the grub screws that were plugging the oil journals by the exhaust ports. I cleaned them well and then used a wicking thread locker. It sealed up one but the other continued to leak. Not bad but annoying and kept the cylinder fins always damp with oil.

Are the 8V engines just more finicky than the old 2VPC ones ?
There always seems to be some crap going on with them.

37,000 on my Stelvio 8V, no leaks so far,I guess I just don't abuse my bikes, and they return my kindness by not leaking.
