Triumph trivia NGC
« on: January 04, 2021, 05:56:41 PM »
I just watched “Cogans Bluff” a 1967 Clint Eastwood movie.
There was a chase scene involving two Triumph motorcycles. One had a tack and one didn’t is about all I could see the difference in all the action.
Can anyone identify the two bikes?

The movie was "COOGAN'S Bluff" and filmed around the Cloister's Monastery, just outside NY City, and I believe the bad guy was on a Bonneville (twin carb) and Clint was on a TR6 (single carb)  Good chase scene!! :thumb:

Main protagonist is Don Stroud haole surfer dude out of Hawaii.
From the Deep Deep South out in left field.  There are no stupid questions.  There are however stupid people asking questions.  🤣, this includes me.  😉 Hawaii.

Yes, he appeared in a LOT of movies, and always seem to play the A-Hole, and he looked the part also!!

"James Ringerman" (Don Stroud) was on a twin carb Triumph 500 (Daytona?), and "Coogan" (Clint Eastwood) was on a twin carb 650 Bonneville.

Don Stroud is one of the few actors who have appeared in "Hawaii Five-O (1968)" and "Hawaii Five-0 (2010)"

I always liked both the Daytona and Bonneville of that era, (1967-1970)...Here is my old 1970 "Trophy 500" T100C  that I regret selling a few years ago... :thumb:

I believe the sounds in the movie were actually that of the triumph bikes in motion. I know a lot of time the sounds  of the vehicle’s, horses hooves, etc are dubbed in?

That's like the sound editor putting a 4 cylinder accelerating away for a 1100Sport in Rush Hour w/the Chris Tucker character on it.
