The Antikythera device is an object of wonder that a lot of people are not aware of.  This incredibly complex celestial computer was created circa 100BC by Greek artisans.  It was found by sponge divers near the Mediterranean island of Antikythera in 1901.  The device itself is amazing.  Nearly equal is the story of it's recovery and ongoing reverse engineering.  This video tells the story.  Human capacity is truly amazing.  Consider the limited materials, tools and technology used to build such a precision device....

Truly remarkable.

If only the Romans hadn't caused the burning of Alexandria... there is no telling what knowledge was lost.

Fission was created in the early '40s with just pencil and paper chalk boards and great intellect and imagination.

That was before the computer, calculators, and CAD systems.
