My brother just picked-up a complete, if not a little crusty '73 250-WR for a great price. On the initial look-over, the Bing carburetor was a little stuck, so he sprayed whatever he sprayed in there to unstick the slide and left it. When I dropped by the next day and he showed it to me, he turned the engine over by hand with the kicker and the thing fired up and idled for five to ten seconds! Crazy! The wad of garbage that shot out of the exhaust pipe was pretty hilarious. Top end will likely come off, anyway, but I am certainly looking forward to the progression of this build!
Same money being asked for this one!

That Maico is a desirable rig for vintage MX racing. Race ready, non-original 1974 1/2 440GP's like this one trade hands occasionally in the $5000-6000 range. The Lackey connection might count for something. An original show room condition one is very rare and would likely sell for well into 5 figures. This bike in this condition belongs on the track, not on display. It will be interesting to see what the BAT crowd thinks.

Speaking of Bultacos, a funny story. I was in my multi brand dealership in the 60's getting a part for my Yamaha. A guy walked up to the counter mad as hell. He had a Bultaco cylinder and piston in his hands. He told Ralph the owner that the piston didn't fit in his freshly bored cylinder. Ralph calmly reached under the counter and handed the guy a big hammer. Everyone in the shop broke out laughing. It seems the guy had brought in the cylinder a few days earlier and told the shop to bore it to a certain specification for a piston he had coming. Well you can guess the rest Ralph told him to leave the cylinder and piston and pick them up the next day. I guess Jose in Spain must have tried some Grappa on his lunch break before he machined the piston. Ralph Strong Motorcycles in Waterford Ct, best MC shop on the planet back in those days. BMW, Yamaha, Triumph, BSA, Bultaco, OSSA and at one time Indian and who knows what else.

We have ''Husky'' too at home ...
or half of that. Meaning chainsaw.
My dad put it together from two used/not working chainsaws he got in his hands (Husqvarna and Jonsered). It is even physically half red and half orange.
In the history those two companies (both from Sweden) were tough competitors (Jonsered was called by Raket) ... but they jointed together and now been one and same company already many years (still keeping those two legendary names alive as different ''brands'').
So atleast with those bit older professional models of their chainsaws some pieces fitted just togther.
