Is anyone using an Auto-Cad design software for making basic drawing of metal parts? Nothing too sophisticated or expensive

Acad offers a free software (cloud based) called Fusion.
it is a 3d modeling package and will make 2d prints.
But you can't use it for any commercial purpose, and you have to agree to that.
If you wish to see just how capable it is.
look at "two stroke stuffing" on the youtube. He designed a cylinder casting using it then 3d printed a mold, then cast it. all in his frozen Nordic shed...

My kid uses SolidWorks. He's a pro, so it's probably not a cheapie unless they have a sample set.
You asked.

FreeCAD is pretty good. I use it on Ubuntu Linux for designing my 3D printable objects. You can design 3D stuff then get 2D drawings for making them in a workshop. You can do assemblies to see how things fit. It is available for Win Mac and Linux. As with any powerful package, it takes a while to understand it.
