A sad parting
« on: May 17, 2021, 05:29:05 AM »
Well, on Saturday and after more than 17 years and 65,800 miles I sold my beloved 2004 Breva 750. We have had some great adventures togther, all over the UK and into Europe. The man who bought her for a bargain price WAS going to use the engine for a 3 wheeler when the MOT ran out, but when he sat on her...the old Breva charm started working....

It was pretty sad to see Red 1 go.....

A VERY wet long weekend with my mate Jeff last year...

A few minutes ago I transferred the money for the replacement bike and hope to pick it up either this afternoon or tomorrow, or Wednesday....

OK, I could drag this out but thats not in my nature so.........its another red Breva750 from 2004!!!! :bike-037: This time with 19,000 miles on the clock, Finebau device, stainless headers, fork gaiters, and a touring screen. It also looks like its been garaged and regularly washed and polished for all of those 17 years, oh and there are heated grips.

I WILL go for a test ride on both a V7 Mk3 and the Mk4, but right now I am just not in a financial position to buy either of those.

Its a strange thing - I feel no need to "move on" right now. B750 suits me down to the ground. I am sure a V7 would too. This "new thing" that may or may not be released in November may or may not be my ideal dream bike  - A full power Breva 850 with a 1/2 fairing.  Who knows?

But for now, I shall tour all over the place on an oldish Guzzi, that I own 100%, and that gives me a lot of smiles.

I might be a little prejudiced, but of all the choices you could have made, I think you made the right one.

Heres the new one! Which is actually 1 month older than the "old" one;

Even though its the same model, tomrrow i will see if its the same riding experience. A nice 150 miles beckons all around Devon and/or Cornwall.

Onwards and upwards!!!

I recall some riders saying the Breva 750 as being their most comfortable bike.

I would agree, I have yet to feel cramped, stiff or sore no matter how long I've been on mine.

Well I'm back home after a 125+ mile jaunt around Devon. I tried it on all sorts of roads, from Devon lanes to dual carriagway cruising at 70+ . Seems to go very well, handle excellently and the screen may or may not improve the highway experience - time will tell. The topbox might be a handy load carrying thing, but is incompatable with my other hard luggage so its coming off. The bars have been elevated and moved back 3 or 4cms, and its maybe a fraction more comfortable for me. Shifting is a little stiffer thn mine, until a few miles down the road then fine.  Starts well.

On the 4th off to Wales!

For those interested, breakfast was an english breakfast and coffee at Dream Machine, and Carrot Cake and hot chocolate at Union Rd Moto Velo, both fine establishments.

Scotty:  Your report re your 60K miles Breva 750 and your decision to buy another with much lower miles was music to my ears.  I'm waiting for delivery (U-Ship) in 2 weeks of John Hemenway's '04 Breva with 12K miles and clearly a well-loved bike with the right upgrades.  A few years down the road I hope to report a similar high miles experience as you have had.

Hi Ralph,

I bet that bike will be an excellent buy! One of the deciding factors for me was I was already a Breva lover, so whats not to like? I expect to sort this one out so that its even better than my old one at long distance (for the UK and Europe!) touring. I have been given the standard "tall" screen so might give that a go; its a less Heath Robinson affair than the one fitted.  The USB ports not sure if they are wired up,or if the fuses are just out. Will test when I next get a chance. This one doesnt have the GuzziTech sump spacer I fitted on the last one - not sure if they are still made but in any case cant offord it right now.

all the best,

Scott from Devon (originally Central Coast NSW)

Well went for a short ride today to get my roadworthiness certificate (MOT) which it passed with flying colours. Top box and rack is off - tomorrow is forecast for heavy rain all day so thats a good day to fit the HB racks. Tried the heated grips and they worked, so thats a bit of luxury on a cold day.
