I'm thinking about something different. That means something else has depart the island of misfit toys.

Shortlist is the 907 paso, 69 ambo, and the Quota 1100.

How do you make the call, or should I put up all three and see what happens?

My two cents-

When I thinned the herd substantially in 06-07, it was hard to imagine that selling those bikes would mean they would realistically be out of reach for me in the future. Even though I could afford to buy one, my valuation of owning one of them would not justify against the new and ever-appreciating values placed upon them by others. The buffet of cheap cool bikes that was ending about the same time is now long dead and gone.

Put a price on them that will satisfy you. That's what I did. My V7 Sport didn't sell, apparently because I valued it more than the buying public. The rest of them sold. Thankfully I still have my V7 Sport.

It's also good to think about the potential to keep any old machine on the road as parts dry up. If there's no repro or significant market present, pending or likely, it's good to sell before others think that far ahead about owning one.

I am in the same place with retirement looming ahead. All 3 of your bikes are unique , interesting models and as a result , hard ( at least in my view ) to part with. I have managed to thin the heard over the last 20 years using the criteria that , in order to have new, different bikes/cars or scare up funds for a project , somethings gots to go. Hopefully you can decide what you are least uncomfortable without, or as I have done in the past, list several vehicles that could be sold and let fate take its course.

Remember two things:

1. Prices on BaT have never been better or higher for vintage bikes...like the Ducati or '69 Ambo...

2. With $CASH$ in hand, you can get whatever you want and have another adventure...

Buy what you like. If budget allows buy them all then decide what stays and goes.

Herd thinning can be very hard but to make it easy several years ago I put a restriction on myself that if a bike doesn't get ridden at least 1000 miles in 365 days it gets sold. More than one bike "I'd never sell" is a distant memory. I figure I can always buy them again it the urge struck.

After owning / riding 34 bikes in 54 years...it's all relative!

I would sell the motorcycles that are easy to replace, especially if you decided to re-visit that ownership at a later date. The Ambo and Quota are not too hard to find and I don't see that changing in the future.

If you had your fun with them and other you find new projects interesting then its time to let something go, if it were my choice I would part with the Quota first.

I am planning on selling some more of my bikes this year, if the USA / CDN border opens soon I will probably go with BAT. In the past couple years I have sold two V7 Sports, a 1000S, a Lemans MKI and a
750 S3, all were fun to work on and ride but finances and space meant that they had to go to make room for other projects.

I have restoration projects starting to back up and my heart is in the saving / restoring more than long term ownership, and I still have my keepers: 72 Eldorado. 57 Cardellino and 48 Airone plus some others.

I think you have to factor in whatever you are intending to purchase. For example, if you are buying a Stelvio, you might let the Quota go. If another vintage sport bike, maybe let the Ducati go.

What are you planning to buy? Is it similar to any of the the other bikes in the stable?

And personally, I would take all three of them out for a ride. See how you feel about them and then choose one to advertise. And once it's for sale, I'd ride it everywhere to get it noticed. I know that is opposite to someone else's advice. But when I sell a bike, I like to be able to say that I've been riding it regularly with no problems.

One thing to consider is how much longer you can maintain your bikes. Think of what might happen in the event of a simple driveway tip-over. Many parts specific to the Paso already are scarce, as are for the Quota but probably less so. The Ambassador can be kept up fairly easily, however.

I loved my Paso 750 but was relieved when it finally went away. It was already sucking up too much of my resources to maintain the way I wanted it kept up.

I have been riding my Ducati and Morini all spring hoping to get in as many miles on them as I can in the event one of them sells! I think I have put on at least 500 miles a week on the pair fine tuning the jetting and just enjoying them for what they are. It’s much more engaging riding these old nails compared to last weeks ride on my BMW K1600 that is pretty close to driving a sports car with the comfort 4 wheels offer.

I get mine back this weekend, its been with Wolfgang since last fall for some fine tuning, realy looking forward to riding it again, I have hardly any miles on it since the restoration. I was stumped on the igntion / carb settings and Wolfgang has got it sorted.

I'm also cutting back, I sold just sold my Centauro, i love riding it but my Buell Uly pretty much covers what the Centauro does and more and I should be able to keep it going longer. Maybe. I also may be selling my 77 LeMans which was my dream bike. I'm just not sure what it is worth since it has been repainted and has a couple broken cylinder fins and a few non stock items.

yeah, i am going through this right now too. i am thinking of selling the 1100sporti but i am really going to miss that bike. the sound of that exhaust note inhabits my dreams.

A 74 sold last month in British Columbia for $12,500, nice bike original, not restored but well maintained. That’s about $10,000 US, I have this bike appraised at $17500 CDN of $14,000 USD. I think the real market value is probably between $12000 to $14000 USD. Laverdas just don’t seem to get a lot of attention here in North America, the Brits, Germans and Aussies go for them in a big way.

The 907 came out the year I graduated high school. Always lusted after one. It's leaning towards the Ambassador as I am not as connected to it when riding.
