Drove one cross country in 1978 from Massachusetts to Oregon. The disk brake GT model like that one. My ass was so sore, I sold it in Oregon and flew home.

Cool bike. I almost bought a leftover for my first bike but I bought a GT380 instead. I thought the 500 was to big to learn on.

I agree with commenters, needs expansion chambers and rear sets... I couldn't live with that sheetmetal side cover either... but cool little bike, I wouldnt kick it out of the garage

A bit “ scrapyard challenge”, but it kept him off the streets while he was building it.
Looks like the remains of several bikes bolted together with dubious DNA mix. Sort of the “ Platypus of Motorcycling”.

Agreed. I really don't like that Mojave tank or the super tall dash/gauges. If they wanted that shape, they should have used a 68 T500 tank. It was very similar in shape and much better proportioned to the bike.

I've had several T500s, including 68 and a 77 GT500 for a long time. pretty sure we got the GT500 before I even had my drivers license. Stock bike, black with the deep blue striping. Looked a lot better than this mismatch of parts. I've still got a spare GT500 badge & a few parts on the shelf.

I picked up a 77 Titan from a seller in Long Beach many years ago. Fun bike, although smokey two-strokes were being frowned at in California, even back then.

Buzzy at speed. My kickstarter ratcheting pawl went out on mine, necessitating engine removal and splitting the cases to replace a 50 cent part no bigger than a dime. Ugh.

I had a low miles 73 T500. It was a fine bike and I really liked it. It was borderline for anything 2 up, tho.

My first bike was a '68 like that. Drum brake and all but not in that good of shape. It probably wouldn't smoke as bad now with synthetic 2 stroke oil. I kept losing baffles out of the mufflers till I safety wired them in instead of using the screws. Bike after that was an upgrade to a '72 teal Water Buffalo w/dual leading shoe drum brakes.

I have one also. 4LS Grimeca front, Gus Kuhn race fairing from Air Tech, Buchannan rims, s/s spokes, fresh instruments, TS, brake and lighting, aluminum barrel oil tank, w/tube. I've yet to put the Higgsspeed (UK), trombones on it - as I age out of the ability to kick start the bike, R3~
