Winter is coming, bed time for bikes

Winter comes early to Canada up this far north and I am going away for a bit of a vacation next week so it was time to drain the gas tanks and carb float bowls, wash the bikes and put the battery tenders on, snow is possible later next week.

Its a SAD time of year.

Nice photo.  Couldn't imagine having to do that.  We are just getting into prime riding time, but I do ride year round. 

In the summer the bikes are usually tucked away by 10AM but I get in 5 hours of riding. 

In the winter the bikes don't roll until around 11AM but again get in about 5 hours of riding. 

Spring and Fall are the extended riding times of the year.

I hope you have a good season, Jim.   After becoming accustomed to the year-round riding conditions here in SC and TN, having to put up all my machines for the long cold winter in VT was one of the hardest parts of living there.  Cold can be managed or at least tolerated.  Salt and ice are completely different concerns.   Motorcycle enthusiasts that never live where there's real winter are fortunate.

Stay warm.  There's nothing like those early spring rides once the roads are clear.

I hate it for you guys with a short ridding season. Just drive the cage down south this winter to the central Piedmont of NC, I’ve got two bikes or haul yours👍

I have kept at least one motorcycle in Vegas or Phoenix for the past 15 years until - came and forced me to stay in Canada for the winter, sold my place in Phoenix a year ago so no plans for winter riding this season, bummer!!

Going to Mexico to stay on the Baja for a month, love the sea of Cortez side away from the zoo of Cabo, may fall in love with Loreto and make that a winter riding home.

Been here in Edmonton all my life, great place to work and raise a family but winter is long and cold and I started hating it a decade ago. I don’t have a snowmobile and don’t ski anymore, don’t play hockey or ice fish so I need to get away in the winter.

You guys who can ride all year are very lucky.

It's time to start adding StaBil to the gas here in Maine.

This year, the weather is mild so far - I'm hoping that the frost is late and the winter is mild.

That’s a great photo, especially with the Laverda peeking out.  I don’t really put the bikes up, I just fill the tanks with stabilized fuel, keep them all on battery tenders and run them every few weeks.  I’ll ride the SR500 or /5 any day that it gets over 40F.  Oh to live in the Carolinas.  Nothing could be finer...
