1100 Sport Fork Dampeners
« on: November 02, 2021, 05:16:06 PM »
Hello All,

I'm new to the forum, although I own several MG, so they are not completely new to me.

I have a 1996 1100 Sport that is in need of the fork being rebuilt. According to my mechanic I need new dampeners, but I'm having a heck of time finding any. I just bought a set of used fork legs on eBay that were supposed to be excellent....well that was not the case as they are worse than the ones I trying to get fixed.

Any ideas as to where to buy new dampeners, or substitutes?

I appreciate any input.

Best,

George

I'd call Race Tech. I love their work. You could send them the set from e-bay.

Just wanted to clarify that your bike does not have sealed damper cartridges like earlier Guzzi... Can't understand why/how they could be worn out.
They should be able to be cleaned and re used. If they truly need replaced, I would also suggest Race Tech.

You and your mechanic probably know this but... One side controls compression damping and the other controls rebound damping. Rebound on the right?

That's $1800, not cost effective in the real world.

Thank you all for the input. I'll have another conversation with my tech about the actual need to replace, given jwinwi advise. If so, I'll call Race Tech to see what they can do. Worse comes to worse, I glad to see that Teo Lamers actually have some (though pricey) if need be.

Thank you all again!

Shouldn't be too bad, many racers used them 41mm Marzocchi M1R
