1973 Moto Guzzi V7 Sport
« on: November 01, 2021, 06:49:42 AM »
The term,” iconic” is often used to describe certain motorcycles. I believe that the phrase aptly applies  to this beautiful V7 Sport currently being auctioned. It will probably sell for near, or more than $20,000. IMHO.

Not very original - big bore, later starter, Ambassador rear drive.

I wonder why he would use that rear drive?

If it's the same bike I think it is, it has been for sale on a recurring basis for quite a while.

+1 on that.

To me the big bore kit detracts from a V7 Sport.  The wiring under the seat looks like the work of a child.  The pie crust rear drive is a puzzler.  I wonder if it has the Borrani Record rims - I can't tell.   Why would you go through the trouble of repainting the bike and use an incorrect tank decal?  The correct ones are easily found.

My V7 Sport was built 100 units before this one and has the later tail light.

It would make a decent restoration candidate if the price wasn't too high.

That is a nice Duc bevel, looks to in very good condition and mostly all stock. These are nice bikes, very smooth, similar to my 75 860GT. Parts prices are eye popping so hopefully the engine is strong with the indicated low mileage. I think the price is fair for a 900 GTS. The handling is so light on these late sprung head Bevels and the riding position is comfortable.
On the other hand the V7 Sport with the big bore kit, the wrong rear drive, missing exhaust P brackets, no front fender reflectors, for the asking price I would question the originality, as Dave Swanson asked are the rims RECORD  CROSS type or just plan Borrani Record rims.

The last two minutes started off slow, but in the end, a respectable number.
