Compatibility of Cali 1100 Seats

You’d think after owning 5 different 1100 models I’d know this fact. And in truth, I did used to know it but now years later I’ve forgotten. Anyone here know? Specifically can the 2 piece seat mount on the 2003 and newer bikes (which came with the one piece)? I vaguely recall that one or the other would work on both bikes but then the other only on the bike it is meant for per se? Like the one piece would mount maybe on the 2003 and newer bikes as well as the older ones, but then maybe the 2 piece older seat required modification to fit onto any ‘03 bike or newer?

I tried to fit a one piece California Vintage seat, to my 2001 EV. It physically fit, but, the locking mechanism is oriented differently. I need to relocate the latch, about 1.5” rearward, and about an inch lower, in order to have the VC seat operate properly. I have tried the one piece for a few miles, and it does seem to be slightly more comfortable.

Good word. Anyone know if the driver solo seat from 2002 and before will bolt up to the newer models?

I was able to fit the Cal Vintage one piece seat to my '98 Cal EV. Had to relocate the computer to the battery compartment and needed to bend and adjust the locking mechanism to accommodate the one piece seat, but it sits well and works a charm.

I did mine years ago with a non skunk CalVin seat I got from Harpers and a used CalVin rack .
No computer relocation needed as my bike is carbed. A 5 inch long x 1.25 inch piece of metal stock worked well to modify the latch position.
Another item that needs to be mentioned is that the seat rests on the ( Calvin/Black Eagle ) luggage rack pads to support the seat when a passenger sits on the bike, and lastly, there is a hole in the rear fender that has a ball end pin to clip on to snap the seat onto.
Surely there is more than one way to skin the cat, but I did mine as Guzzi originally designed ( asides from the latch bracket bodge) so that the seat would be held and snapped in solidly especially with a pillion. Rack image to illustrate support pads, seat Pin image

Ive been thinking of finding a CalVin seat for my 02 stone. All I have found were with the white stripes though. I have not sat on one before, but my stock Stone seat is SOOOO bad, and most people tend to like them.

While I’ve found the stock seat of any iteration (2 piece or 1) on nearly all my previous 1100 Calis to as near useless as wood, I do kind of prefer the look of the 2 piece from 2002 and prior. This being said, the Vintage seat is sharp and looks to be an upgrade.

I was very unhappy with the OEM dual seat on my '03 Stone Touring, so I sourced a 2007 CalVin "skunk" seat, which fit perfectly and was a large improvement. Eventually, tho, I unzipped my purse and got a Corbin seat and it was excellent.
