Gudgeon pin clearance

Assembling motor and replaced gudgeon pin bushes and require reamed diameter but the measurements Im coming up with in 3 different manuals that all read the same I find a rather large clearance . Im installing new gilardoni 950 T3 barrels on my 850 eldorado and am using lighter Wiseco pins in place of the heavy ones supplied so they should dissipate heat a little better ? and accept a closer tolerance but pin bushing clearance of 0.021-0.045 . Id like some feed back from the guys that know better than me . seems a lot to me that pin should be a nice cosy fit. Thanks Ray

This may sound a bit archaic , (as I am ) , but over the years I've found that , older Triumph , BSA's , HD's and Guzzi have all responded well to
what was referred to as a smooth sliding fit at the machine shops . My present Le Mans 2 with 89mm Wiseco pistons and new fitted pin bushings
are still quiet after a 1/4 century and well over 100,000 kilometers . Peter

Hi.
The table shows the clearances in millimeters. So pin to bushing clearance is 0.001 inch to 0.002 inch so 1 to 2 thou. Seems about right.

No moto uno your not archaic thats how ive done it , an oiled pin held vertically should have slight resistance and move slowly, not tight not loose , just thought those measurements was a little loose maybe im wrong (again)
