Garage Error
« on: April 19, 2022, 07:49:28 AM »
I’ve been trying to figure out why my G5 won’t get spark after crabbing it to replace the gearbox input seal (of which I installed the wrong size previously, after crabbing the bike to sort a ring gear installed backwards). The coils were getting power and all wiring looked fine, but no spark. Long story short the three wires from the Dyna box to the ignition pickup pulled apart inside the loom wrapping when I dropped the engine.  Another lesson learned.

In the course of restoring my first Guzzi I took the engine/frame apart once and then crabbed it twice more to address stupid assembly errors.

Yeah, I envy those who somehow have the ability to get things right the first time. I restored the '85 LM1000 three times but only got one bike out of it.
Something wistful and amusing, yet poignant.

I find it easier to accept and eye roll - rather than a slap on the wrist. (Not everyone sees it).  ymmv   R3~

Crabbing is fishing for crabs.

Cribbing is the use of dunnage to support a heavy object.
to me, cribbing is carefully stacked lumber or masonary to support a heavy object. dunnage is packing material such as cardboard us to protect an itm from damage..

Here's a great example of cribbing. This bridge here on the coast of Maine represents a truly ingenious solution which allows the shifting tides to do their thing. Still standing after nearly 100 years.

I'm glad I didn't have this philosophy as an aircraft engineer. There'd be a lot of smoking holes in the ground now if I did.

Crabbing is what I do when lunch is late.  Cribbing is what I do the night before a trial.
