Vanson service *****
« on: April 07, 2022, 06:22:46 PM »
I have a Vanson Model A that's around 15 yo. Nice patina, but the liner was showing some wear. I sent it to Vanson and they replaced the liner. Not cheap, but they did a good job, and I'm pleased with the way everything was handled. Should last me for the rest of my life.

Also feels good to support an American company and its workers.

Bates Leathers is much the same.  I’ve had two set of Bates leathers since 1987.  My current set has been back to them several times for repairs, all done beautifully and invisibly.  As a result I can wear 25 year old leathers and people thing they look good.

I like to deal face to face with people who make good stuff that lasts a long time.

I have two Vanson leathers and one mesh one.  It take about 6 years to break them in!  I love them.  Kinda feel like Ironman with them on.

Vanson jackets are not my style, but I did take a factory tour during a Dave Roper get together/ fundraiser a few years ago.  What a great shop with great people and very high quality clothing. Worth visiting if in Fall River MA.

I second Scout's suggestion of visiting Vanson, esp. if they have an open house or other function.  Worth the trip.

Agreed on the Brooks.  My son now uses mine.  Tough as old cow leather for sure.

I got my Schott 620 in 1985. American made company NYC and the same family is still rolling out some of the best leathers on the planet. Their jacket like my 620 runs around 800-1000 dollars today.

Years ago, I bought a Langlitz Leathers, (Portland, OR), "Columbia" leather jacket.  Mostly for very cold weather... Lifetime jacket...superb quality... Doesn't get much use here in northern AZ, except in winter time. :thumb:

I wasn’t going to model my Schott JJ but you have influenced me to do so. Since JJ and I have exposed ourselves everyone else feel free to pose in your favorite leather motorcycle jacket. That is if the author of this thread is ok with it being done on this thread👍
