I know a few have followed my other threads regarding my bike. I got an email yesterday saying it’s ready to pick up in Austin. So my bus ticket is purchased and I’m leaving from Houston Tuesday.

Seems the ECU was the culprit and over two months of waiting is fixed. I’m excited to get it back. Will be 200 mile ride back. Will report on how it feels. Here’s to hoping

Well interesting developments…. I ride out from AF1 and after 12 miles pulled into a gas station because the fuel light was on. I intended to fill up fuel light or not. I put the bike on the kickstand look at my pant leg and it’s soaked with oil from the valve cover presumably….

I call Af1 and decide to ride it gently back to assess as I’m done taking chances with this bike. The tech pops out takes the bike to bike and tightens it up. Everything after that seems fine. I noticed some possible seepage from the ride home could be left over oil I suppose.

The tech said it was very rare for the ecu to actually go bad and this was one of the few they had actually come across in years.

Anyways bike rode very well home. It was nice but I gotta say I’m wondering what it’s gonna throw next. Well small thing but the service dash wrench which had been cleared popped up again and it’s not been enough miles to need a service. Gonna check it out tomorrow. Not exactly the ride home I was hoping for but it made it.

But unlike before at least it runs, has a neutral light and the kickstand sensor seems ok now. I’ve named the bike The kraken. Seems appropriate at this point…

Man, you are one calm, understanding dude.

The least they could have done was to make sure everything was buttoned up properly, as they must have been aware that you were riding it a long way home.

in regard to the excess oil. i changed the oil on mine recently and pinched a gasket. first ride was about 20 miles before I noticed. It was all over the place. No perm damage that i can tell, but, even after spraying grease cleaner everywhere i could think of and a free application of Dawn dish soap, it took about 10 trips before i quit smelling burning oil at start up. so, if there is no current leak, the smell will go away with a little time and riding.

one thing about petroleum products is that even a small smell looks massive. this seems to be the case with oil or gasoline, it gets everywhere when spilled.

I’m gonna wash and ride the bike today. Happy to have it home. The tech mentioned they had several people go over it to make sure it was ship shape. If it throws any more fits I may seek a new pair of two wheels.

That wrench on the dash board is just service related correct?

I would like to say overall AF1 really good on to fixing it fast seems to know what they are doing. I blame - and parts shortages for the length of time this took. I don’t want to seem mad just a guy who needs a dependable set of wheels to get to work who has a weakness for Italian motorcycles. Don’t laugh too hard

Yes, it is supposed to mean that it is due for service.

Now that it has been through all its trials and tribulations it will be trouble free for many more miles to come. Every motorized project I have undertaken has required a debugging period.

I appreciate that to both of your posts. Changed the oil this morning going to give it a wash and ride and look for oil leaks. Feels pretty great so far. Final drive is a little different there top vent screw is covered and at an angle that looks impossible to move with out taking off the rear tire. I used a syringe to refill.
