Centauro Luggage Rack question
« on: May 31, 2022, 12:57:13 PM »
My 98 Centauro did not come with the rear 'luggage' rack [GT models only?]. I have since acquired one but the locking seat post is now too short to engage the locking mechanism beneath the seat due to the thickness of the rack mounting plate. Was there a longer seat post for those models or am I missing something?

I searched the COG [Centauro Owners Group] forum but didn't find anything.

Thanks

I'd look in parts manual. I set up new one's both way, GT's, Sport w/stripe, normal Centy's. Never noticed any difference. Can't remember after 25yrs.
I know they have a different seat.

I found an "original" rack for my Centauro GT on eBay ($125).  You need to take off the Hump Back and the rack fits flush with 4 bolts.  You cannot use both...The photos should explain.  I use an expandable CORTECH "Tail Bag" for trips...and off you GO!

The seat latches fine without the rack but the rack mounting plate [1/8"+] seems to prohibit the seat post from latching into the locking mechanism. Weird.

That is weird, so something is not right.  My seat...with the rack...latches just fine...

I was able to shim up the locking mechanism and all is well now.

Thanks

Good question (?) Don't know, (?) but the rack was a "factory option" for the GT models...

If I get motivated, I can go measure the corbin, the GT and the stock C seats to see if there is a difference. I'll keep you POSTed. :D

A moot point as I believe CT Darma already fixed the problem...
