What is the thread pitch size for oil pump shaft

Hi, I need to repair the threads on my oil pump shaft.  I know the shaft is an m8 size, but what is the thread pitch size?  Thanks

Standard M8 thread pitch is 1.25, the first fine will be 1.0 but it may be (though I would be surprised) is 0.75.
Take a standard M6 bolt and line it up against the M8 shaft, it the pitches lock together the M8 shaft is 1.0 pitch.

Yeah, I tried m8x1.00 and it didn’t work, I’m guessing I should go with m8x.75

It's an M8 x 1 on both the pumps on my bench.

Pun intended?  Probably not, though. That is a hardened shaft and unless there has been a shaved ape beating on it  there may just be a small ding in the end that keeps the nut from starting. Take a look with a 10 power glass. Maybe a thread file? Grind a little chamfer on the end?

And make sure it's actually a 8x1 nut because 8x1 is not the standard 8mm size nut and someone may have forced the common 8x1.25 onto the shaft.
