Lafranconi crossover o-ring

Any tips on how to get a very stubborn crossover through/into the o-ring on these Lafranconis without the o-ring displacing?  Want to try using a smaller o-ring but not sure how temp resistant the o-ring assortment I have is.

Trying with full body weight and plenty of grease on the oring and crossover pipe. Just got a set for the LM1 and had to grind down the mount tabs about 6mm off the leading edge to clear the (welded in place) factory rear footpegs.

Seems like they started up production on these again without testing and things are a bit off.

From experience those seals don't last very long, o rings and excessive heat don't mix.
I used some exhaust putty at the mating surfaces and then wrapped the joint with exhaust tape.
Wet the tape and it will make it more supple prior to application.
Secure the tape with stainless locking wire.

I made some metal rings from copper rod ( thinner than O rings) , then sealed with this and let it set overnight . No leaks and it lasted for some years.

I just ditched those rubber gaskets and used a pair of regular muffler clamps.

Ah I see, another issue with these, shucks. Well I ended up trimming the inside of the o-rings with just a shave off - and got them installed.

Now though, I seem to need rear-sets. Which I never really thought I would want to do on any of my Tonti bikes. Anyone have tips on how to get the levers lower? Do I need to bend the stock levers or are there some other ideas out there?

I found that once you got the rubbers in place they were OK for awhile but not a fix which is why I just went with the standard muffler clamps.  Some people have bent the levers or went with later levers that seem to work OK.  The shifter on mine works fine but the brake sits higher up than I'd like so I may just install the ones from my CX as I have Agostini rearsets on that bike.

I brought the same question up a couple of months back and that is what someone else mentioned and or bend the ones you have which I'm reluctant to do for obvious reasons.  I just haven't gotten around to doing the swap but when I eye it up it looks like it will clear.

Looks like the CX pedal should work. I'll need to get both pedals chromed if they do work.
