XL 100 K1.. 1974 or 75
Tank has rust, I’d like to replace it, where can I find one. Or clean and coat it, any guidance welcome.
Is there a great forum for them?
Kick start feels like good compression, shifts thru the gears and clutch feels good. Tires old but hold air. Frame has some rust that I can handle.
Cost $400, the next caller was offering $500 sight unseen so I figured I can recover my money easy.
Owner will order a duplicate title, hope he does not forget - he mentioned Alzheimer’s .

Nice find. We had one around the shop years ago that the boss inherited from his dad when he could no longer ride. It was impossible not to have fun riding it even if just going to pick up lunch.

You got a bargain fg. The pipe alone is worth your purchase price. Now go out and annoy your neighbors.

Fill gas tank with vinegar. Let sit for a couple of days. Rinse thoroughly with soapy and then clear water and dry in sun. One or two coats of Bill Hirsch FAA-approved tank sealer will do it. Be sure to remove the fuel taps and plug the holes with paper towel or similar. There are other good tank sealants, but I have used the Bill Hirsch sealant (only one I know of that is FAA approved for light aircraft use).

nice find! if the tank is not too rusty but needs cleaning the old trick is to empty your coin jar (mostly pennies) into the tank with some gas and just shake it around for awhile. this usualy takes off the "fur" and wont harm the tank. old hondas can handle some dirt in the gas, an inline filter should take care of the rest. if you have problems start or idling better to replace the whole carb than try and fix, cheap ones are available on ebay.

I bought one of those in 1971 - in "John Deere" green 2-tone. I was 13 years old, and I was really SOMEBODY in those days.
hahahahaaaaaa. It took most of my lawn-mowing/hay/etc stash of cash but it was worth every penny !!!
Post up some more pics and let us know how its coming along.
