In-Search-of-the-Last-Mohican Tiddler Tour
10:00 AM -- ??:??
Starts/Ends @: Steven & Lynn Rossi's, 41 Orchard Road, East Haddam, CT 06423
As usual, older, small displacement bikes preferred...but the idea is to get out and have fun on tiny, twisty two-lanes. Morning and Afternoon routes about 45 miles each, Lunch Stop in Bozrah, CT at Main's County Store.
Please TEXT Steven Rossi (248) 470-5788 with an e-Mail address for Route instructions in advance. And please specify either Route Holder format of full-size, Tank Bag format.

P.S. -- there's one short, well-groomed gravel section.

Thanks for comin' out...a good time was had by all! Weather was great, Route worked out well, Lunch stop was well appreciated. Variety of Guzzi Airone and Lodola, Germans included BMW, MZ and Horex, along with a Benelli and a variety of two-stroke and four-stroke Japanese.
Only mechanical DNF was the result of a lost fuel line Banjo bolt. Ooops...

In-Search-of-the-Last Mohican Tiddler Tour
by
Steven Rossi
Idyllic northeast Connecticut is often referred to as “the quiet corner.” Its wide-open spaces are interwoven with a tasty assortment of twisty two-lanes. They’re perfect for a bunch of old guys…and a couple of “mature” girls…to explore aboard vintage small-bore bikes. Thus, “Tiddler Tours” have become a staple of our summer fun in the sun.
So, on Sunday July 31, the cognoscenti convened at the home of yours truly in East Haddam to partake in a ride which was called In-Search-of-the-Last Mohican Tiddler Tour. It turns out that Indian lands are quite prevalent here in Eastern Connecticut, including two revenue-generating Casinos and various tribal communities.
With all due respect to James Fenimore Cooper, we therefore headed out toward the Mohegan Reservation in Uncasville, along the Thames River…and its Fort Shantok Archeological District. Along the way, we enjoyed a lunch stop at Main’s Country Store & Grille in Bozrah.
All in, the TT ran about 45 miles out…and roughly 45 miles back. And as usual, you know you’ve made an accomplishment when you head out for almost 100 miles on something like an ancient 100cc bike and make it back. Though there was one mechanical casualty…a lost fuel line banjo bolt. Which gives you a rough idea of what vintage we’re talking about.
Some 20+ riders showed up on everything from Benelli to Moto Guzzi, along with BMW, MZ and Horex. Of course, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha tiddlers were quite evident along with a Matchless and BSA, too. A late arriving KTM thumper went on to chase down the pack.
The morning’s coffee and donut session was later capped off with some cold ones and an adult beverage, or two, in the afternoon back at my garage. Mother Nature joined in by offering up some wonderful weather, which was certainly enjoyed along the shady, tranquil tarmac…though there was one well-groomed gravel trail along the way.
As the Mohegan’s say, “Piyosh Nanawithtiyi”…which we did. It means to go safely. So likewise, I hope you do, too. “Wi Papomsho.” Journey well…
