Glad to hear you escaped relatively unharmed. I had custom earplugs made by Westone made from molds made by my audiologist. They don't work as well as a pair I made from a $12 kit from ebay.

Glad you are doing OK and didn't get run over by the heavy traffic in OKC. I know you are tough. Didn't you say at a campout that you got a vasectomy, went out and kick started the old [panhead and rode 30 miles of dirt roads home?

Tex, Tex, Tex.... I've never had a vasectomy or owned a Harley.  And I'm too old now to change my mind.

And here's an update

I just molded myself a new earplug. Lucky I needed only one, because the kit didn't have enough to do both of my ears up to the inside upper lip.  Seems to work OK, I'll need work it a little bit to make easier to install.

And Phil, I'm doubling down on the modular helmet-

I just put my Shoei back together. I know what you might be thinking but it was all cosmetic. A little scratching on the chin bar, the vinyl trim is scored on the edge but it all shoved back in with the chin curtain. Nothing wrong with it. Not even a scratch on the skull cap, even the Grateful Dead emblem is still on. Opens and closes solid. Visor isn't scratched.  All polished up and looks nice but used. No, I don't think I'll replace it.

I think thing that makes me mad is this crap on the road.  Not just this wreck.  I had to replace the cat and header pipe on my Ducati from something that jumped out of pot hole.  And I call the cops any time I see debris on the road.  I must've called twice a month for most of last summer.  Reverse karma.

Sorry but we don't bounce as well at 68 as we did when we were 67.

I'm of the opinion that mesh jackets and such have about the same protection as a pair of jeans.  Unless you spring for the really high-dollar stuff like Klim mesh, you might as well wear a T-shirt.  Every crash and everyone I've known that went down wearing mesh, well, it was shredded.  Maybe it's better than nothing...for about five seconds or so. Buyer beware.

Man...just saw this. Very glad you got by with what appears to be minimal injuries. Heal quickly and we all need to take care.

Wow ..... Glad you are doing better and that you were so close to home. I have had a few close relationships with concrete and black top on my EV.  I was more hurt psychologically than physically. Also,  :thumb: on wearing gear.

Thank all.  Just a few scabs on my face and an oouzzey one on my left arm.  I haven't checked on the bike.  I'd ride today but I have a sinus head cold.

Thanks for your good wishes and calls.

I've gotta say it was the strangest thing to go down like that.  Just a reminder to be careful out there.
