LED Turn Signals on Stelvio
« on: October 14, 2022, 07:18:54 PM »
I put a set of led turn signal bulbs on my Stelvio, now the turn lights flash very fast and show bad bulb warning on dash, can a flash relay be replaced or do I need to add resistors inline on each bulb.

Thanks

Had the same trouble on my gt1000— $ .99 led flasher was the answer…

Thanks, I wish it was that easy my understanding the newer bikes control the flash thru the dash, it has no flasher, I'm hoping that it has a relay that controls the resistance so it wouldn't be necessary to wire in resistors.

The LED confuses the dash on the Stelvio, and it thinks the bulb is burned out.

I played with this long ago for someone, maybe Luap. I think we found a fix by putting a 470 ohm 1/2 watt resistor in PARALLEL with the turn signal. That slight extra load was enough to straighten out the dash.

a few months back I did a test on a Griso and found a 1k resistor in parallel with each lamp was enough to load up the circuit. to prevent the lamp fail function.
The dash sends a tiny Voltage out each lamp output to check the filaments, if the dash output detects a Voltage across the output it assumes the filament  is open circuit
a 1/4 Watt 1k resistor was all it took to load up the circuit
Hope this helps.
I assume your dash throws up a picture of a lamp like the griso did.
The Griso owner was complaining that the lamps were lighting even with the key Out, I think I measured 40 microamps from each of the dash outputs, a 1k load is enough to hold it down.
