Can't find Thrust Needle Bearing - will 2mm make a difference?

I'm at the end stages of a transmission rebuild. Nothing particularly wrong, but I'm replacing all bearings and seals since I'm here now.

I've been able to source all the bearings except the thrust needle bearing and two washer.

Harpers, MGCycle, etc. don't have it.

There are a bunch of bearings available on-line in the USA, but the O.D is 2mm larger.

The dimensions of what I have now are
O.D: 21.8mm
I.D: 10mm
Thickness: 2mm

The ones readily available online are
OD: 24mm.


I.D: 10mm
Thickness: 2mm.

Do you reckon those additional 2.2mm going to get in the way?
If so, it looks like this is going to be a $100 part with shipping because it'll have to come from Europe, as opposed to $10 from the continental U.S.

I spent considerable time on this a short while back, as I recall the transmission housing is too small to accept the 24mm bearing. The ID and thickness is ok but the OD is too large. I made inquiry into a couple manufacturers, but no responses were positive. I got no answers.

The dimensions you wrote above are for the clutch throw-out bearing, not the mainshaft thrust bearing (#16) in the illustration or the part number you've given. The correct part number for the throw-out bearing is 12087001 and is trade number AX1022.

976532 is 42 mm o.d., 25 mm i.d. and 2 mm thick (4 mm with the thrust washers). AX2542.

Just ordered from them the other day. All the ball bearings for a Ambo 4 spd., u-joint carrier bearing, steering head and swingarm pivot bearings. Total just $115 including (their rather high) shipping.

That’s a pretty good price Charlie. Did you have to spec the bearings by type and size?

Most, if not all rolling element bearings are standard sizes but some are more popular than others hence your difficulty in finding what you need.
Quality and hence price will be the deciding factor.
Given that this is buried in the gearbox I'd stump up for a good brand NSK or, SKF for example
A decent bearing factors will be able to track what you need.
I worked for NSK in a previous experience and can remember some of what I was taught  ..... which is nice

Six ball bearings and four tapered roller bearings, all brand name (SKF or Koyo). Used the numbers off of the old bearings.
