Used gear charity?
« on: October 30, 2022, 04:21:22 PM »
Does anyone know of a charity that accepts used riding gear? Kim has decided she does not want to ride anymore so her used gear 2 jackets, pants, gloves, boots etc. need a new home. I'm sure none of it is worth much but could outfit someone nicely. It's all about 15 yrs old but lightly used. I know I can donate to local charities but thought i had read of a riders charity. I would just like to promote riding in some way. Any ideas?

That's a clever idea.  i'd be interested as well since I have some older jackets I no longer wear.

You might check out your local MSF lots of new to be motorcyclists who would need gear. After the cost of a bike and all the taxes, DMV fees not much money left over for proper gear.

Over on ADVRIDERS forum you can throw it out there for veterans on one of their sites and list what you have, or maybe you could start it here, say like pay for shipping and its yours  :boozing:

I recall reading that this organization was looking for riding gear donations.

I know of an organization that accepts donations of new and lightly used riding clothing from around the United States and sends free packages that is The Rider's Closet. You can visit www.equusfoundation .org/riderscloset for more information. You can also follow The Rider's Closet on social media at @theriderscloset.

Thank you for the response johnnie64!  I am grateful there is a charity for equestrian gear and was looking for something similar for motorcycle gear, so right idea just slightly wrong focus.  Others here may well be interested in the charity you mention.
This seems a worthy moto related charity and we are considering donating here  https://www.motorelief.org/.   Shipping costs would be exorbitant so we may transport on our next trip to Denver to see stepson and grands. We would still consider other moto related charities if mentioned.

Thank you again johnnie64 for the interest.
