RIP FRANCO (NGC)
« on: December 21, 2022, 06:01:30 PM »
As a life long steeler fan sad news about the Passing of steeler lengend and humanitarian Franco Harris just days before 50th anniversary of the immaculate reception and the retirement of the #32 jersey, Franco was a star on and off the field. Strange how things happen. RIP.

A sad day for those of us who are a part of the yinzer diaspora.

I remember watching that game with my brother and my Dad.

Great team - The Steel Curtain Defense, Gerela's Gorillas, The Immaculate Reception
good times following them back then.   :-)

Looking at videos' of THAT play. I really don't think the receiver would of caught the pass. Jack Tatum was a somewhat dirty player. In todays game he would of been flagged for pass interference. Maybe ejected from the game. In the end he put Franco into NFL history book.

Great player.  Great team.

When I saw the title, I thought we we're going to that SNL line.

Franco was from Jersey but made a home in Pittsburgh where he lived since being drafted.  He gave back to the city and I appreciated that.

Pittsburgh in the 70's was a beat-up city.  Mills closing, lot's of people out of work, lots of people worried about the future.  The Steelers gave us something to be proud and happy about.  Franco was a big part of that.  A gracious man.  He is missed.
He lost the run of himself.
