I've ridden in a group ride setting twice in 20 years of motorcycling, I hated it.

I've ridden a couple times with buddies (1-3 other people). Didn't hate it, but didn't like it, so have avoided it as much as possible without being rude.

I'm a solo traveler. Even when I go to rallys, I don't head out on group rides, I will go explore the local roads myself.

Motorcycling seems like a solo proposition for me, only exception is carrying a pillion...  I do like riding with the wife on back, but we only seem to do it 4-5x/year at this point.

Either way as long as I'm riding. The preference by a nose-hair is alone or with maybe 1-3 other riders that have similar riding habits as myself.

Mostly alone. I have a couple of friends with bikes but we are rarely on the same schedule. Any more than 2 or 3  can make it a social get together. To me it's like pool. When there are more that 3 it becomes a social event and too much talking and not enough pool being played.

For trips I like 2,3 others, people I know and enjoy their company.I always go on the lunch rides at rallies to see new roads and socialize at lunch. Here in the WI Driftless area I enjoy showing people around .Don’t get as much of a thrill riding alone anymore, but I do ride to get to places as opposed to just riding around and that’s ok.I have done a few solo long trips and enjoyed them as adventures, may be doing one this summer to AK.

I am surprised in the amount of people who prefer to ride alone. I have always enjoyed riding with others. In the 1970's I would ride on trails and logging roads with my friends. When I got back into riding in late 2008 I made alot of rides with friends. In 2010 when I bought my Moto Guzzi the first trip I made was a break in ride of about 300 miles. Then I rode with 4 other couples to Glacier Montana. About 1500 miles total. 5 Bikes and 1 car was too much. After that, 4 is the maximum number for good road trips. One question I had to answer after my accident in October, how can I enjoy the same experience but not ride a Motorcycle. I think when I am healed up, I will buy a small convertible and follow my friends on their Motos.

When I was younger I enjoyed riding with others. No that I am old and crotchety, no and get off my lawn.

I mainly ride alone as I haven't ever found any fellow Guzzi riders in my area that I would enjoy spending time with. On bike, off bike and even on this forum.

Wow. That’s too bad!  Stay well

I don’t like to ride fast and always being in a hurry, so I choose to meet up, have lunches, campouts etc to meet n greet talk with riders, but I do not do group rides.  Just my choice.

Fully agree on all points!

I think it’s a probably a sliding scale… Getting together and Socializing on one end of the scale and exploring with solitude on the other end of the scale. Most people are probably somewhere in between those two extremes.

I rode with a friend from Portland to Los Angeles straight through. He smoked, and behind the fairing of his Gold Wing his cigs would only last about three drags, so we stopped. A lot. I did the same ride myself the next year, and got there nearly five hours sooner. It was a good trip, but I never rode with him again. I have a couple of buddies I took a trip with, and that was fun. We had one inexperienced guy, so we adjusted down so he was comfortable. We planned it that way, so it was not a drag. I rode with my son a few times while he was learning, again agjusting to his pace. I rode once with some guys from work, idiots who passed on blind turns and really were stupid. I will ride in a group with two or three people I like, especially to help new riders into the sport, but really prefer to do my own thing. Less than 1% of my total miles over the last 42 years have been in any form of group. And I am okay with that.
