I made sure to finish my MABDR trip just in time to attend the USCRA vintage bike races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and the 5th annual Tower Street Hill Climb at Weirs Beach.  This was my second year attending the Tower Street hill climb, which initially started over 100 years ago. This time around I volunteered for the event, and plan to do so with the track races as well.

No idea if they’re members on here, but Dan Coyle rode on his trusted 850 with a solid time just over 12 seconds, and I met a longtime racer named Scott who rides one of Dr. John Wittner’s Harleys in his well-known modified chassis. Exciting to hear him share how he came across the parts bin and communicated with Dr. John when piecing the bike back together.

I didn’t take many good photos, so here are some pics from another gentleman who attended. It was rainy today— thankfully not during the event—so if you spy a bloke in full-out highlighter yellow, that’s me. After only 12 years of riding motorcycles, I’ve found my entrance into racing:

I thought hillclimb would be dirt!

Looks like quite a few old geezers!

Some hill climbs are dirt, some paved. The Gunstock Hill Climb is the well-known mountain climb near Laconia. That one’s actually going on now. Not sure how many of these old road beauties would make it even 1/4 up a mountain, ha.
