I think the science is no different for anything a person finds pleasurable. I like riding bike as much as I enjoy a good drink, making good food for F&F, playing ball with the pup a throw between the sheets with that special someone. Anything I find fun is a stress reliever.

One of my friends participated in the Harley-Davidson study that is mentioned in this video and often makes the comparison between practicing yoga and riding a motorcycle, as they're a yoga instructor. I don't think it's as simple as doing something you find rewarding, but also dedicating to that task and blocking out other distractions.

It makes some sense.  I do ride to alleviate stress and a good cognitive ride always helps. Especially in the dark on a lonely road with the pipes wailing. I come home and don’t want to shut off the engine.

When under any considerable stress (work related or not), I don't do well just hoping on the motorcycle. I seem to need a greater physical excursion and focus of task at hand to push out the noise in my head. My "go to" fix is the mountainbike. Heightened concentration for me, along with physical demands, block out all other concerns of the day. A relaxing shower after and I'm reset mentally.
