Giving my Guzzi's the boot (for awhile)
« on: September 03, 2023, 01:24:48 PM »
Well, as some of you know i had an ankle reconstruction surgery in May 2023, so was 6 weeks no weight bearing and 6 more in a boot.  Well it was decided that the surgery needed a redo, so last Monday I had even more extensive surgery.  Obvioulsy there has been no actiivity with any of the bikes in the garage .  So two days before the surgery, I happened into Cadre cycle for a say hi visit.  Enzo had a sweet little 2009 Vespa GTS 250 ie Super in the used bikes, with the boot still on I thought I could ride that!! So Enzo let me take it for a spin, and I was instantly in love, my long missed wind therapy was back and much needed.  So Enzo gracioulsy deleiverd it to me, and I rode the wheels off for those two days.

I will now be in a cast for 6 weeks, then back to the boot for another 6-8 wks doing PT.  As soon as that happens I will be riding again now!! Yay me!!

I need to get some friends over though for a ride cyclehoarders bikes day. To exercise them and get them put away for the winter, as I will probably be in a boot until the first of the year.

Have fun with the Vespa, They are a hoot! A friend has an automatic 4 stroke like yours and a 2 stroke 150 with handlebar shift, and clutch.  Ive ridden both, and Both are great fun. FWIW, I had my left ankle fused after a couple of unsucessful reconstructions, and the fused ankle has been fine for over 10 years, and mainly pain relief, made it worthwhile.
take care

A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.

Take it easy, get well soon, listen to the experts, and while they are quietly rolling their eyes , enjoy the wind in your face.
