That is so cool. Its gotta be strange it being SOOOO quiet!!!  I dont fly, but I would think that you would learn a lot, and become a better powered aircraft pilot after spending some time in a glider.

I find it's similar to dinghy sailing in that it's just your skill that makes it happen

Was that from a winch launch or from an aero tug?

Winch launches play havoc with my inner ear and I immediately feel sick - but anti seasick tablets take care of that

Once I know I wont feel sick, the acceleration and steep climb from a winch launch is fun

To the right is the Variometer calibrated in knots (100’s of ft/min) @ 200 ft/min in the shot
Altitude is 2,750 feet
The red string is to tell you when you are flying in a co ordinated manner. It should be pointing straight back.
Yellow handle is tow release.

Loved my glider days in Canberra flying Blaniks. Also had a flight in an ES52 Kookaburra, which was a really blast of the 1950s, or even 1940s! And a Puchatcz  -which was space age for me!!!
