Another one followed me home !
« on: June 03, 2024, 05:57:03 AM »
This one was neglected and filthy.  A 2008 Honda GL1800 Gold Wing. Poor little fella.
I brought it home and gave it the "once over" and a deep clean.

It's running now, and behaving itself.

It's a Honda, how bad can it be ?

One thing is for sure - these two are keeping me busy, cleaning and detailing.

Ima get that rear car tire off today (date code early 2017 and also mount a new front (date code mid-2016).

Got a new set of Dunlop Elite 4 tires in the stash......

I let the air out of that car tire, and still had to cuss it out of the well.

Got everything cleaned, inspected, etc.

Brakes, clutch, & radiator flush - air filter, oil, tires.
Removing years of layered brake dust and road grime from the wheels was a challenge.

A very reasonable deal, for sure.

I'm not into restorations,   I do like to pick up a few bikes every year. work them over and then sell them.  Of course, they must be ridden (sometimes extensively) to make sure that everything is OK.

The motorcycle distribution system does its thing.  To fight it is folly.

Well said.  She's a beaut!  I always wanted a giant Honda tourer when I was a wee lad, and I still dream of an '83 GL650i Silverwing.  I watched a perfect one go for just $5k a few months back and it 'bout killed me.  FortNine has one and it's lovely.

Honda has a special place in my heart.  My first ever vehicle was a '76 CB200, we drive a CR-V, have a generator, and my fave bike for years was a '79 CX500C, but now it's my Guzzi girl .
