Help around KC area for suspension set up
« on: June 24, 2024, 08:53:35 AM »
I must admit that most bikes I owned required little or no adjustment, luck I guess? I dunno but I have owned bikes that had primo suspension set ups, BMW F800S and Aprilia Mille come to mind, wow!

Anyway, I acquired a 2016 Eldo 1400 with 14k miles and need to try adjusting stock suspenders for 2 up riding first, before I dive into aftermarket territory. So, someone around my area that could walk me through it or a good tutorial would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance all,

You need several people to complete the task easily.  There is a lot of info on setting the static sag for rider, rider with luggage, rider with passenger, and rider, passenger, and luggage.  Once you set them you write it down so you can easily move between them.

On budget suspension you might actually need to change out springs if you can't get the proper sag on both ends of the weight spectrum.

Then after setting up the sag comes rebound and compression damping to get the desired ride characteristics.  Soft for the surface roads comfort can make it wallow in the twisties.  Vice versa if set too stiff.  If suspension is not fully adjustable some will go for a compromise with gold valve emulators and fork oil change for the front.
