Evao-Rust, Gallon or Quart?

My gallon jug of Evapo-Rust (ER) is getting weak, so I need more.  Although it's cheaper by the gallon, I'm thinking a quart size might be better.

I usually am doing small objects; found tools, vintage light rims, etc.  As I use ER, it gets weaker and weaker, and when I return the ER back to the jug, I feel like I'm  contaminating it.  Adding "weak to good" can't be making the good part any better.

My idea is to use the quart, and replace it faster.  Any better ideas?

I've thought about it.  But I know the good point/bad points of ER, don't want another learning curve of a new product.  Some people w tight wallets might go that route.  That's understandable.

It works the same, and is virtually identical chemically, so I doubt there would be a learning curve. The only real difference is the homemade stuff works slower. "A penny saved is a penny earned".

Since we can't get EvapoRust here easily (or cheaply) we use the Backyard Ballistics Rust Remover recipe:

    100 grams of citric acid
    40 grams of sodium carbonate (or 63 grams sodium bicarbonate)
    1000 ml of (distilled) water
    Dish washing soap as surfactant (a few drops)

Works as advertised.
