Tough way to get new MC
« on: November 24, 2024, 06:29:15 PM »
I am trying to come to terms with the fact that my oldest riding buddy has passed away due to Parkinson's disease. We shared some fantastic day rides all over eastern Washington and Idaho. He was a remarkable character and had great integrity. He was funny and always available to help when needed as I was to him, but he rarely needed help.  While his passing was not entirely unexpected, given our age, it still hit me hard when it happened.   I was honored when informed by his family member I was gifted his rare 1994 Yamaha GTS1000.  It has not been started in at least a few years to my knowledge.  It'll be a labor of love getting it back to running condition in his memory.  It was advanced tech for it's time with the front end and fuel injection.    *Just goes to prove we are only caretakers of our prized possessions, if we don't destroy them they go on to live another life with someone else.

I'll be waiting until spring when I can drag a trailer over the pass to fetch it home with me.   I think someone here on the board also has one.  They were only imported into the states for 2 years.  It's a tough way to get a motorcycle.

My condolences to you and your riding buddy's family.  The fact that he left the motorcycle in your care is a testament to your friendship.

You will have that connection, do him proud and the Yamaha will go on to live another life indeed.

Take care,
Rob

Very nice machine. I remember seeing the front end in tests and pictures but other than that I don't know much about it. Enjoy the bike in your friend's memory.
