New To Me 2002 Le Mans
« on: November 24, 2024, 02:23:25 PM »

After reading about the V11 Le Mans and looking at a bunch of pictures, I bought this one at an estate auction and brought it home yesterday.  It was very dirty so I gave it a quick wash. Wow - these things are so much cooler in person!  Pictures do not do them justice!  My 7 year old daughter and #1 riding partner, Haley, approves as well!

I'll be looking for a new seat or cover (any leads are greatly appreciated), and it has the same problem I recently had with my 2006 Breva 1100: the neutral light is not turning on, and so it won't start.  With the Breva the problem just went away, so I am not sure how to fix it.  Even so, I think this bike is going to prove to be a favorite of mine!

Congrats on your new v11 Lemans Walter!  Fwiw, there's this forum ....   https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php
The folks at the v11 Lemans forum are great, you may even find a seat there in their FS section, they were a good source for info in keeping mine in tip-top shape.

She's a beauty! I like my Selvio, but I truly miss my old Tenni.  What a great find.

Looking forward to seeing your Lemans at COTA one day for Moto GP.  There are a few of us nearby on V11's...between Houston, San Antonio and maybe Austin, there's about 4-5 V11's in different variants.

The V11Lemans forum is wonderful...lots of  great info there.

There is a good thread on comprehensive Tune up that is also worth looking at.

Pity on the seat, I had sent my V11 Scura seat to another member not more than a year ago...but you could post a Wanted Ad on the V11 forum and see if anyone has one lying around they would let go.

Your gauges look good...not faded, so that's a plus.

Dripping Springs is a great place...I go thru there from time to time on my way to Hill Country...you're so much closer to the good riding!

It's great to know there are some more owners in the area.  It's too bad I missed out on that seat, but hopefully one will show up soon.  In the meantime I'll be trying to sort out that weird neutral problem!

Hey Walter,
Congrats on your new V11 LM! I just brought one home a week ago myself and I had an issue getting mine to start the first time. I had wheeled it out of the garage, so I knew it was in neutral. Turned the ignition on, heard the fuel pump, neutral light on, checked the kill switch, and pushed the start button and nothing. I went through this routine a few times with the same result. Suspecting a possible side stand cut out, I sat on the bike and kicked back the side stand and still nothing. Then I pulled it the clutch lever and, voila! She fired right. I have never experienced a clutch cut out before only side stand. I only share this on the remote chance that this is your issue as well. If not, you might want to check the relays. I've been reading that the V11 relays are sketchy and a good place to look at upgrading.

Spmoto, that is really good information.  The info regarding starting and the neutral light was from the guy at the auction. My charger is showing Bad Battery so I'll swap another in and try as you described.  Thanks!
