Let the sound out

My 850T has a pretty good set of standard mufflers but someone commented it made as much noise as a Asthmatic Budgie.
Is there a way of getting a bit more sound without destroying the mufflers?

Not sure what is out there for the 850T, but I have a set of Lafranconi Competizione mufflers on my cali stone, and they sound AMAZING!!  Not harsh at all, but oh so much better then stock.

I was thinking more on the line of drilling a hole in the baffles out of these mufflers.
I see from the tail end the pipe angles off centre line.

I ran replica Dunstalls on my EV. They are constructed like the originals and in fact I used their baffles to restore my original Dunstalls. Expect a few ponies more in the low to mid range as well and they won’t break the bank. Best leave their baffles alone or you will loose power. You will still hear them, no problem.

I wouldn't drill the baffles in your mufflers. Guys did that to their early 70's Airheads. I don't think the resulting sounds were very pleasing. That doesn't mean yours will be better or worse. I put Dunstalls on mine. On the Harleys I once owned I did baffle modification to each. Two of them had stock mufflers which were unbelievably quiet. I bought spares off eBay which were very cheap as everyone replaces them with aftermarkets. I bought a used Twin Cam after the Sportster, it had a pretty good rumble with Screaming Eagle pipes which became obnoxious and tiring. I took the baffles out of those and welded in a partial diverter and then drilled the holes in the central pipe larger and added a few more. I experimented with sizes and numbers as the baffles were easy to remove. I got a nice sound without it being too loud. The best sounding bike I have ever owned was my 2022 Triumph T120 with the factory mufflers. Good luck with whatever you decide on.
